Explain this: x=.99… 10x=9.99… 10x-x=9.99…-.99… 9x=9 x=1 .99…=1?

Explain this: x=.99… 10x=9.99… 10x-x=9.99…-.99… 9x=9 x=1 .99…=1? Can you first prove that simplification really works on infinite numbers? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

If the same digit x appears in the same decimal place in two numbers to be subtracted, that law will apply. Since the same digit goes on infinitely after the decimal point of the two numbers, it would be safe to assume that if we subtract the two numbers, the result would have no decimal point (i hate essays, ok?)

Explain this: x=.99… 10x=9.99… 10x-x=9.99…-.99… 9x=9 x=1 .99…=1? Because .99... is equal to 1! Since 1 - .99... = .00... which is also equal to ε Where ε is a really, really small number close to 0. Therefore, .99... is actually equal to 1.

This is a test paper in Math at my school. It is WAY easier than the all the Math things you guys are talking about. My Math is Singaporean Math so thats why it may be different Attachments:

My school is private and that test paper was given in the 2nd qtr.
